What Happens After the “A-ha!” Moment?
Hey, Overdrive readers! Check out this article I came across regarding that familiar “A-ha!” moment every entrepreneur gets at one point in time. This story is by Christina Scottik, and it’s from Fox Business. It touches on what people should do after they have that million-dollar idea.
Success stories are as varied as the entrepreneurs who’ve lived them. So unfortunately, there’s no precise formula for moving your great idea ahead. Still, some common themes emerge from those who’ve followed the dream: move quickly and decisively, but stay patient and persistent.

Three Keys to Powerful Body Language
By Conor Neill, an EO Spain-Barcelona member and the CEO of Taxijet, a corporate aviation company.
As a business owner, having to speak in front of large audiences is part of the entrepreneurial game. Though public speaking is empowering, it can also be difficult to manage. In my experience, how you should stand, have your hands, look or dress when giving a speech can be confusing. After reading Sandy Linver’s Speak and Get Results, I’ve learned how to get my message across through powerful body language.

Book Talk: 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More – Part II
BOLD recently sat down with business expert Stever Robbins to discuss his latest book, “Get-It-Done Guy’s 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More.” Stever is the director of the Babson College Collaboratory and host of “The Get It Done Guy” on the Quick and Dirty Tips network.
To read the first part of this interview, published on October 12, click here.
BOLD: Discuss your idea of the life map. How will this help entrepreneurs keep themselves focused on the next step, and not unnecessary work?
SR: A life map is a goal ladder that includes your personal life. I invented it by accident, to explain the logic behind my business projects to a summer intern. A goal ladder wasn’t enough; my business only made sense when considered in the context of my life goals. My life map is a filter and focus tool. When a new opportunity pops up, I ask where it goes on my life map. Is it a new business? A new strategic initiative? A new project? A new task? If it doesn’t fit, then it represents a major life change to take it on. That’s a signal that it’s actually a distraction.

Book Talk: 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More
BOLD recently sat down with business expert Stever Robbins to discuss his latest book, “Get-It-Done Guy’s 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More.” Stever is the director of the Babson College Collaboratory and host of “The Get It Done Guy” on the Quick and Dirty Tips network. He has been a businessperson and entrepreneur since the late 1970s. Stever co-founded the early internet success story FTP Software, and has been a part of nine high-tech start-ups, four IPOs and three acquisitions. He was COO for Building Blocks Interactive, and project manager at Intuit, where he co-led the development of the award-winning Quicken VISA Card.
BOLD: Is this book for business or personal use?
Stever Robbins: This book helps you make everything more effective, business or personal. For example, the ‘Optimize’ chapter covers hearing and using negative feedback to improve. That’s a great skill anywhere, home or work. Most examples are drawn from business, but there are several from daily life, as well. Some examples don’t fit neatly into a box. Consider building a zombie army; it’s hard to know whether that’s business or personal.

Unleash Your Talent DNA
In this article by entrepreneur Reg Athwal, we look at how individuals can best leverage their talents for greater purposes. Here’s an excerpt:
“With 6.8 billion people on the planet and more to come, I believe it is a ‘must’ for everyone to discover their talent(s) and unleash them in their lifetime. I almost see it as a crime if one doesn’t do this. Everyone is born with multiple talents; in most cases, 50 percent of our DNA is innate and we can thank all our forefathers for giving us a bit. The majority of the second 50 percent is acquired between the age of 0 to 18. So, by the time we are 18 years of age, we have around 90 percent of the information we need, with clear signs from our childhood as to what our talents are. However, most people never discover them, leave them unused or repress them for decades.”

Peter Thomas: The Five Foundations of an Extraordinary Life
It is hard to be positive about business when so much of what we hear about these days is negative— rising unemployment, falling revenues and hardship dominate the daily headlines. In my opinion, now is the perfect time to focus on the positive and turn bad news into good news.
The global economic downturn, which has touched all of us in some way, presents a perfect opportunity to do this. While we may be suffering—some more than others—we have a prime opportunity to rethink what’s important and determine the true meaning of success. From there, we can focus on how to best achieve success in our personal or professional lives.
