Why Your Social Media Campaign is Not Working

By Michael Jenkins, Founder of Shout Agency

You started your social media campaign with great enthusiasm – you created a social media strategy and posted content on Facebook and Twitter. You told the audience all about your products and special offers, but it’s not working at all!

There can be many reasons behind the failure of your social media strategy. We have listed some of the major reasons here:

You Didn’t Identify the Target Audience

To deliver interesting content, you must be able to identify your target audience. If your company makes products for babies, your target audience would be couples in their late 20’s or early 30’s. And if you make adult diapers, your target audience would be the people older than 50. You need to design content according to their tastes and requirements. At Shout, we understand your target audience, and create our social media strategy around that.

Your Content is Not Unique or Interesting

Even if you’ve hired expert content creators, you might get no returns. This because you need to understand what interests your audience. At Shout, we analyse your fans’ behaviour on various social media platforms to understand them better. By tracking where they hang out the most, we get to know their likes and dislikes and we’re able to create a social media strategy accordingly.

You Are Not Consistent

If you tweet one day and then take a break for a day, or if you post something on Facebook and then forget about it for a couple of days, you’re not doing it right. The people who have liked your page might not like or share all of your posts, but they’ll be getting updates regularly. If they see that you’re not active for a long time, they will assume that either your business is going slow or you’ve just stopped caring – and both these things are not good for your company. When we create your social media strategy, we make sure that we are consistent with our content.

You’re Not Using the Right Network

If you’re a photography company, you should concentrate on social media networks like Pinterest and Instagram instead of Twitter. Your content might be really engaging, but if you’re not using the right medium, you’ll be unable to connect to your audience. We find out the main social media platforms for your audience and where your industry influencers are. And we create your social media profiles accordingly.

You Expect Too Much Too Soon

We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again – social media does not give instant results. If you expect people to start following you just because you’re there on the network, you’ll be hugely disappointed. You need to keep up with the campaign without expecting results for some time. When we create a social media strategy for you, we don’t make tall claims. Yes, we DO drive in traffic, but it will not happen overnight.

Do these points look familiar? Are you making these mistakes? Contact us to make sure that your social media strategy is robust and does not include such errors. We are a team of passionate people who love social. We make sure that your campaign is designed around your brand and reflects your vision.
