Fifteen of the World’s Top Renewable Energy Companies

Which of the world’s biggest businesses are “going green?” This is the question Newsweek asked, along with Corporate Knights Capital and HIP (Human Impact + Profit)  Investor Inc., in their study, “Top Green Companies in the World 2015.” The contenders were scored based on 8 KPIs, each of which served as a percentage of the final score:

  • Combined energy productivity – 15%
  • Combined greenhouse gas (GHG) productivity – 15%
  • Combined water productivity – 15%
  • Combined waste productivity – 15%
  • Green revenue score – 20%
  • Sustainability pay link – 10%
  • Sustainability board committee – 5%
  • Audited environmental metrics – 5%

1. Biogen Inc. | USA – scored 89.20%

2. SHIRE PLC | – scored 85.10%

3.  Allergan, Inc. | USA – scored 84.20%

4. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC | UK – scored 84.10%

5. Adobe Systems Incorporated | USA – scored 82.60%

6. Swisscom AG | Switzerland – scored 81.60%

7. Unilever PLC | UK – scored 81.30%

8. Broadcom Corporation | USA – scored 81.30%

9. Roche Holding AG | Switzerland – scored 80.40%

10. BT Group PLC | UK – scored 80.40%

11. Atlas Copco Aktiebolag | Sweden – scored 79.00%

12. Ecolab Inc. | USA – scored 77.80%

13. Siemens Aktiengesellschaft | Germany – 76.90%

14. Compass Group PLC | UK – scored 76.60%

15. Novo Nordisk A/S | Denmark – scored 75.40%
