The Immutable Law of 168

Tom Peters, the management guru, said, “Calendars never lie. They are 100% accurate and visible indicators of your priorities.”

There’s the Pareto Principal or “the 80/20 Rule” (where 80% of the results come from the top 20%) and the Rule of 72 (72 divided by any percentage gives you the approximate number of years it takes for your money to double). But one of the most powerful principals is the Immutable Law of 168.

Our agricultural equipment company had been in operation since 1978, and had built a good name for itself as a quality manufacturer. What it didn’t seem to have, however, were well-defined processes, a professional workforce and, most importantly, a strong bottom line. I suddenly had my hands full.

The Accelerating Power of Mentorship

When it comes to success in any area of life, mentorship plays an integral role. As an entrepreneur, I knew I could achieve more if I created relationships with those that blazed the trail before me. However, two big things kept me from having mentors in my life: pride and fear. Circling my mind were thoughts that always seemed to gum up the process: “I’ve looked for mentors, but I just haven’t found anyone right,” (pride), and “If I have a mentor, then who am I to them? A leech? A pest? A task?” (fear).

A new revolution in digital advertising that I have become familiar with is Real Time Bidding (RTB), also known as Real Time Advertising (RTA), programmatic and Adtech. RTB aims to give advertisers a tool to better target their customers and display relevant ads to them based on their browser history.
