Should I use YouTube for Marketing?

By David Collier, an EO San Francisco member and founder of Studio B Films

Of course you want to get ahead on search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. But did you know that the world’s second largest search engine, behind the juggernaut Google, is none other than the Google-owned video sharing website, YouTube? If your company isn’t on the second biggest search engine, then you’re missing out on a lot of potential viewers- and a lot of potential business.

If you’re marketing a product or service towards the general public, videos on YouTube will help you out. It makes sense to host your videos on the largest video search engine, because when your potential customers search related terms, or even if they’re viewing competitor’s videos on YouTube, your videos will still be shown on the side- as long as you’ve used the correct tags and titles. Having videos on YouTube shows that your company is human, and it gives you another valuable space to interact with commenters and convert them into leads.
