Learning Opportunity: Entrepreneurship Scholarship

Hey, blog fans! This came across my Inbox, and I thought I’d share it with you guys. It seems like a great learning opportunity, filled with opportunities to grow as business leaders. Check it out!

The Aspen Institue Entrepreneurship Scholarship
The Aspen Institute is an international non-profit dedicated to fostering enlightened leadership and open-minded dialogue through seminars, policy programs and conferences. Its mission is two-fold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues. The Aspen Institute does this primarily in four ways: seminars, young-leader fellowships around the globe, policy programs, and public conferences and events. The Institute is based in Washington, DC; Aspen, Colorado; and on the Wye River on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. It also has an international network of partners.

The Institute’s Justice and Society Seminar, offered over the course of a week in Aspen, Colorado each summer, focuses on conceptions of justice and how a just society ought to deal with issues such as private conduct and public mores; economic justice and fairness; the extent of entitlements; inequalities related to race and gender; law and religion; and the contours of justice in the international sphere. Readings for the seminar range from classic philosophical texts, to short stories, films, and plays, to cases currently before the Supreme Court. These materials set the agenda for dialogue about the timeless values of justice in an increasingly complex world.

The Institute’s idyllic campus in Aspen affords the peace of mind that allows for deep reflection. The intellectual stimulation of the seminar is balanced by ample opportunities for recreation and relaxation at the Aspen Meadows Resort. The Aspen Music Festival, hiking in the Rockies, and white water rafting are some of the highlights of the experience.  The fee for the seminar includes tuition, all readings, accommodations and meals at the Aspen Meadows Resort, and transportation from the Aspen airport to the Meadows. There is a nominal additional charge for special activities for the group. Please click here for more information.

Two sessions of the Seminar will be offered in 2011: the first July 10-16; and the second July 31-August 6.

Due to the generosity of our donors, the Justice and Society Program is able this year to offer up to two scholarships to young entrepreneurs (under age 40) who would like to attend our seminar. The scholarship will cover 50% of the cost of tuition, lodgings at the Aspen Meadows resort, and all meals during the seminar period. The value of the scholarship is $3,450, and the recipient will be responsible for the remaining $3,450, plus airfare to and from Aspen.  If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, contact Michael Green today!
